Squls Ltd (“Squls”, “we”, “us”, “our”) is a private limited company registered and operating in the Republic of Uganda (Company Registration No. [insert your Uganda Registration Board number]). We are fully committed to protecting your privacy and complying with the Uganda Data Protection and Privacy Act, 2019 and all applicable regulations.

By using www.courses.squls.com (the “Platform”), registering an account, enrolling in courses, or contacting us, you consent to the collection, use, and disclosure of your information as described in this Privacy Policy.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of personal data:

a) Information you provide directly

Full name, email address, phone number, country, and payment details
Profile photo, bio, and any messages/reviews you post
Academic progress, quiz scores, and certificates earned

b) Automatically collected information

IP address, browser type, device information, operating system
Cookies, analytics data (via Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, etc.)
Usage data: pages visited, time spent, clicks, and course completion rates

c) Payment information Processed securely via third-party processors (Stripe, PayPal, Flutterwave, Mobile Money). We do not store full card numbers or CVV on our servers.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your data only for legitimate business purposes, including:

Creating and managing your account
Delivering courses, quizzes, and certificates
Processing payments and issuing refunds
Sending transactional emails and course updates
Improving the Platform (analytics & bug fixing)
Marketing our own similar courses (you can opt out at any time)
Preventing fraud and enforcing our Terms

3. Legal Bases for Processing (Uganda Data Protection Act Compliance)

Contract: to provide the services you purchased
Legitimate interests: fraud prevention, platform improvement, direct marketing
Consent: where you explicitly opt in (e.g., newsletters)
Legal obligation: tax and auditing requirements

4. Sharing Your Information

We share personal data only with trusted partners who are contractually bound to protect it:

Payment processors (Stripe, PayPal, Flutterwave, MTN/Airtel Mobile Money)
Cloud hosting & email providers (Google Cloud, AWS, SendGrid)
Analytics & advertising tools (Google Analytics, Meta, Hotjar)
Independent instructors (only your name and progress in their specific course)
Law enforcement or regulators when legally required

We never sell your personal data to third parties for marketing.

5. International Data Transfers

Your data may be transferred to and stored in servers located in the United States, Europe, or Singapore (Google Cloud / AWS regions). These transfers are protected by:

Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the Uganda Personal Data Protection Office
Binding Corporate Rules where applicable

6. Data Retention

Account data: kept while your account is active + 7 years (Uganda tax law requirement)
Transaction records: 7 years
Inactive accounts: deleted or anonymized after 36 months of no login

7. Your Rights Under Uganda Law

You have the right to:

Access your personal data
Rectify inaccurate data
Erase your data (where no legal obligation prevents it)
Restrict or object to processing
Withdraw consent at any time
Lodge a complaint with the Personal Data Protection Office (PDPO), Uganda

8. Security

We use industry-standard encryption (TLS/SSL), firewalls, and regular security audits. However, no online service can be 100 % secure; you use the Platform at your own risk.

9. Children’s Privacy

The Platform is not intended for persons under 18 without parental consent. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.

10. Cookies & Tracking

We use essential, performance, and marketing cookies. You can manage preferences via the cookie banner or browser settings.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy at any time. Significant changes will be notified by email and a banner on the Platform.
